Description

While I still had my Stellarvue 90mm refractor setup I decided to try another open cluster combination in Cassiopeia.  While doing a platesolve in SGP I spotted a nebula close enough to capture. I consulted my star catalogs and several different planetarium software and could not identify the red nebula.  So I decided to image the area and see what I could get. Normally I would only image an open cluster for an hour or so, but since I wanted to capture the 'unknown' nebula, I decided to image for most of the night.

At this magnification the open clusters are not obvious, especiaaly since there are over 20,000 stars in the field of view.

Can anyone idntofy the red nebula??

Update: I did a search on NGC 103 and found that the nebula is probably Sharpless 173 (Sh2-173).
